Abstract
The aim of the research is to identify the effect of mental training in improving the level of performance of the handstand movement on the parallel apparatus in the artistic gymnastics for men. The research was conducted on a sample of the players of the technical gymnastics team of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences University, who numbered (6) players. The researcher chose the experimental method, the one-group experimental design by means of a pre and post measurement for its relevance to the nature of the research.
The training program continued to be applied using the mental training accompanying the motor performance on the research sample at an average of two training units per week, the time of one training unit being (90) minutes. The researcher concluded that the use of mental training accompanying the motor performance had a clear impact on improving the level of performance of the handstand movement on the parallel device in the artistic gymnastics for men. The researcher attributes this to the fact that the use of mental training in artistic gymnastics can improve the level of performance of various gymnastics movements by improving the level of correct and perfect mental awareness of the stages of movement in all its parts. In light of the foregoing, the researcher recommends the necessity of using mental training in the process of training the various gymnastics movements and for all devices
